Happy Terminology Tuesday! Let’s learn about Architectural Trim and Moldings! 🏛️

This week, we’re diving into three distinct architectural features that bring both style and function to buildings:

• Cornice: A prominent molding that runs along the top of a building, typically where the walls meet the roof. Beyond its decorative value, it helps direct rainwater away from the building, protecting the walls from water damage.
• Modillion: A decorative bracket often found under a cornice, modillions create a beautiful pattern along the eaves of classical buildings, blending aesthetic appeal with structural support.
• Pediment: A triangular feature above a door, window, or portico often found in classical architecture. While it’s mostly decorative, it can add a sense of formality to a building’s entrance.
