Happy “Terminology Tuesday!”
At Kluger Architects, we’re all about making architectural knowledge both engaging and accessible. Each week, we explore terms that expand our collective understanding of architectural elements.
This week, we’re highlighting two timeless architectural elements:
• Caryatids: These sculpted female figures serve a similar role but represent elegance and beauty. Commonly seen in ancient Greek architecture, Caryatids gracefully support the weight of an entablature.
• Atlantes: Sculpted male figures used as columns or pillars to support a structure. These powerful forms are often found in classical and neoclassical buildings, symbolizing strength and durability.
