A while ago we received a generous donation of 14 replicas of the 18th-century Stations of the Cross. It’s an honor to collaborate with Maria Szopinski whose expertise played a vital role in restoring the entire set.
These replicas are being displayed on both the south and north sides of Guardian Angel Church in Pacoima, which is currently nearing completion, with 7 stations on each side. The 14 Stations of the Cross illustrate the following events:
The 14 Stations of the Cross depict the following events: 1. Jesus is condemned to death 2. Carries his cross 3. Falls for the first time 4. Meets His mother 5. Helped by Simon of Cyrene 6. Has his face wiped by Veronica 7. Falls a second time 8. Meets the women of Jerusalem 9. Falls for the third time 10. Stripped of His garments 11. Nailed to the cross 12. Dies on the cross 13. Taken down from the cross 14. Laid in the tomb.
We are deeply grateful to the Guardian Angel team and to Maria for her dedication and skill in restoring these replicas, bringing them back to life while honoring the 18th-century style they replicate for future generations.
